Security Gardening (or maybe… Secure Sentiments)

I want to try and tell you a short story. It is my journey so far to achieve my private aspiration of becoming a Secops Architect and Gardener.
We have been known to be a special species (endangered species). I have started practicing security about 16 years ago. I had answered an article in an Israeli newspaper advertising a job opportunity in the information security field as a consultant in one of the biggest firms in Israel.
I have answered this advertisement. The result is this first attempt to blog.
I must say that I would try to sum up my takes from that still ongoing journey, but I’m in doubt that I would be able to browse through all of them.
Meet your mentor
When I started my first course in security, I met a man who seemed nice. He managed a course for a whole group of people (me in them). He could manage people and tasks so gracefully, calmly and I had him train me for a whole great 10 years. Thank you, Ran Adler.
Practice your rules — Don’t hesitate to stand up for yourself
As a youngster in the field of security, I had learned to be a hacker (thanks to a good friend, Moshe Ben Simon), but mostly I learned how to be a pioneer and drive yourself forward.
I think that being always professional without compromise is the way that was most beneficial to present my ideas and my take on how to design a secure way of thinking.
Practice listening to other people’s thoughts and ideas
I have learned that I was wrong primarily when stating the obvious. Before presenting my thoughts, I concluded that I needed to listen to the other side’s challenges and make actual adjustments to my spoken thoughts. If I wanted someone else to understand my security ideas, I needed to adhere to their security appetite and budget. Never forget to ask the other party their idea.
Start to think on your own
Over the years, I have ventured to the realms of dragons and lore. I have met countless legendary people who practiced the art of telling. I have listened to them all. Felt their breath, felt their wrath, their compassion, and mostly listened to their wisdom and ways. I thank you all.
Meet the proper companions for the road
I have met two great people along the road. We journeyed together from a cozy basement to a wonderfully designed haven of security knowledge. We have named this place “Triad Security.”
I want to thank my two partners for this journey, Naor Moreno and Tal Argoni — I have learnt so many great things from you guys, my brothers to the road not taken... We have embarked on an extraordinary journey together — sailing through a sea of emotions, storms, and friendship.
Build your garden and secure it with confidence
Well, now I can attend to the beautiful garden that we had carefully and thoughtfully secured…
